Ein Mosaikstein für den sogenannten Goldschatz von Saint-Louis bei Basel

Beschreibung: Grosse Schatzfunde sind faszinierend, wurden aber häufig auch zerstreut, sodass sie heute mühsam rekonstruiert werden müssen, will man ihre historische Bedeutung verstehen. Die Beschäftigung mit dem neu erworbenen Goldstater erlaubt nun die Zuordnung dieser und einer Reihe weiterer keltischer Münzen zu dem viel diskutierten sogenannten Schatzfund von Saint-Louis bei Basel aus dem Jahre 1883.

Les monnaies celtiques de l’oppidum du Münsterhügel à Bâle

Résumé: Dans la ville de Bale, plusieurs occupations datant de la fin de l’age du Fer ont ete mises au jour. Les plus celebres et les plus grandes sont celles de Gasfabrik a l’emplacement actuel de la societe Novartis et la colline de la cathedrale (Munsterhugel) au coeur de la vieille ville. Les deux sites sont connus bien au-dela des frontieres suisses, car ils ont servi de reference pour l’elaboration du systeme chronologique de la fin du Second age du Fer.

Ein kleiner Obol macht den Unterschied: ein latènezeitliches Kindergrab in Basel-Gasfabrik

Beschreibung: Der Brauch, Toten eine Münze mit ins Grab zu geben, erinnert an die griechische Mythologie. Ob der Obol im Grab eines Kleinkindes als Reisegeld ins Jenseits gedacht war, bleibt uns aber verborgen.

La petite obole qui fait la différence: Une tombe d’enfant de l’époque de La Tène sur le site de Bâle-Gasfabrik

Rèsumé: La coutume de donner une monnaie aux défunts rappelle la mythologie grecque. Une tombe d’un petit enfant contenait une telle obole, mais on ignore si elle avait été déposée comme viatique pour l’au-delà.

Abstract: The southern Upper Rhine area has a large number of Late La Tène sites, several of which are of European significance. The modern division of the region by three national borders and two language areas meant that the area enclosed by the Vosges, the Black Forest and the Jura Mountains was not perceived as a geographical unit and connected settlement landscape. Therefore, it was the objective of the tri-national working group to compile coordinated records of all the sites dating from the period in this cultural landscape.
