Zwischen 2020 und 2023 wurden bei mehreren Begehungen und Untersuchungen auf der Flur Franzosenhau der am Hochrhein gelegenen Zürcher Gemeinde Weiach mindestens 62 schweizerische Silberstatere, weitere Fragmente solcher Münzen sowie ein Zürcher Potin und ein römischer Denar des 2. Jh. n. Chr. zusammengetragen. Nicht nur die einheitliche Zusammensetzung, sondern auch die vielen Stempelverbindungen innerhalb der Silberstatere weisen darauf hin, dass die Deponierung der verstreut aufgefundenen Münzen auf ein einmaliges Ereignis zurückzuführen ist. Dieser, nach dem Fund von Tägerwilen TG, zweite Silberstater-Hortfund auf schweizerischem Gebiet ermöglicht es erstmals, diese Gruppe näher zu typologisieren. Dabei zeigt sich, dass mindestens sechs Typen unterschieden werden können. Ausgehend von dieser neuen Typologie werden auch die älteren Funde schweizerischer Silberstatere in das neue System eingegliedert und kartiert, was eine klare Konzentration dieser Gruppe auf dem Gebiet der heutigen Schweiz zeigt. Der Hort dürfte an der Wende des 2. zum 1. Jh. v. Chr. deponiert worden sein.

Abstract:

Between 2020 and 2023, at least 62 «Swiss silver staters», other fragments of such coins, a potin coin of the Zurich type, and a Roman denarius form the 2nd century AD were collected during several surveys and investigations in the Franzosenhau area, municipality of Weiach, in the north-west of the canton of Zurich. Both, the uniform composition and the many die combinations among the coins of the hoard, speak for a unique event that led to the deposition of the coins, that were found scattered. This second silver stater hoard, after the find from Tägerwilen TG, on Swiss territory makes it possible for the first time to formulate a typology for the group of Swiss silver staters and six types have been identified. Based on this new typology, the older finds of Swiss silver staters were also incorporated into the new system and mapped, which shows a clear concentration of these coin types in the area of present-day Switzerland. The hoard was probably deposited at the turn of the 2nd to the 1st centuries BC.

Lors de plusieurs campagnes ayant eu lieu entre 2020 et 2023, au moins 62 statères suisses d’argent, des fragments du même numéraire, un potin zurichois et un denier romain du 2e s. après J.-C. ont été mis au jour sur la parcelle Franzosenhau de la commune zurichoise de Weiach située dans le Haut-Rhin. Bien que les monnaies aient été trouvées dispersées, la nature homogène de l’ensemble et les nombreuses liaisons de coins entre les statères d’argent indiquent que le dépôt résulte d’un évènement unique. Après la trouvaille de Tägerwilen TG, il s’agit du second trésor de statères d’argent trouvé sur le territoire suisse. Grâce à cette nouvelle découverte, leur typologie a pu être précisée et il a pu être démontré qu’il en existe au moins six types différents. Les anciennes trouvailles de statères suisses d’argent ont été incluses à la nouvelle typologie et cartographiées, permettant de mettre une forte concentration sur le territoire suisse en évidence. Le trésor semble avoir été enfoui au tournant du 2e au 1er siècle av. J.-C.
